Are you are referring to Laura Keene holding Lincoln's head in the box after being shot? Someone later stated the scene reminded him of a painting of Christ (on the cross? being taken down from the cross?).

Okay, I did a little searching. I think it was Leale who felt the scene of Keene and Lincoln in the box reminded him of the perspective in Mantegna's painting "Dead Christ".

I went back and looked at the image of the painting you posted. That is not Mantegna's "Dead Christ". So I guess I was wrong! I will have to keep thinking.

Good thinking, Eva. It does not have to do with Weichmann, but Weichmann did know the person.

Could it be I read the name in his book? (Seems a familiar name, but I often think this about faces and then it turns out they are new to me.)

Eva, I apologize as I think I have worded this question in a confusing way. So I will change it.

"Henry Sherman" was an alias John Surratt used when he checked into a certain hotel. What was the name of the hotel and in what city was it located?

Hint #1: Here is a picture of the hotel where John Surratt stayed under the alias Henry Sherman.

On December 25, 1870, Erasmus W. Ross, a clerk at Libby Prison died in the fire at the Spottswood. Ross gave testimony at the Conspiracy trial.
