Are you are referring to Laura Keene holding Lincoln's head in the box after being shot? Someone later stated the scene reminded him of a painting of Christ (on the cross? being taken down from the cross?).
Okay, I did a little searching. I think it was Leale who felt the scene of Keene and Lincoln in the box reminded him of the perspective in Mantegna's painting "Dead Christ".
I went back and looked at the image of the painting you posted. That is not Mantegna's "Dead Christ". So I guess I was wrong! I will have to keep thinking.
