Okay, I did a little searching. I think it was Leale who felt the scene of Keene and Lincoln in the box reminded him of the perspective in Mantegna's painting "Dead Christ".

I went back and looked at the image of the painting you posted. That is not Mantegna's "Dead Christ". So I guess I was wrong! I will have to keep thinking.

"Henry Sherman" was an alias John Surratt used when he checked into a certain hotel. What was the name of the hotel and in what city was it located?

On December 25, 1870, Erasmus W. Ross, a clerk at Libby Prison died in the fire at the Spottswood. Ross gave testimony at the Conspiracy trial.
