I think Herbert Hoover lived his last years in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.
Roger, this was indeed the location!
Hint#2: The sought-after spoke at JFK's Inauguration.
Robert Frost?
Robert Frost?
Brilliant, Liz and Laurie! JFK's inauguration had Robert Frost as the first poet to participate in the official ceremony. The only other President to feature poets was Bill Clinton (Maya Angelou at his 1993 inaugural, Miller Williams at his second, in 1997).

There's some intersting info about Frost's participation here:

When he was blinded by the sun, who offered Robert Frost his top hat to block it?

No. It was a Southerner.

Very good, Eva! Here's a short clip.
That will teach me to depend on wiki.answers.com: "Richard Nixon came and held his top hat to block the sun for Mr.Frost who was extremely old and having problems. He may not have finished it, but he made a heroic effort I will never forget."

A Southerner like LBJ would certainly have the manners (at least this time) to think of the elderly gentleman...
I have a Wiki account. I went in and changed that right after I posted the question.
What President had a member of his administrative staff who was a child prodigy pianist? Name the President, the staff member, and what position he held.
George W Bush's Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice? (Will it score three points if it's correct? I remember that from a TV report when she took office.)...er, I just see you are looking for a "he"...but I'm sure, she's a good pianist, too.
Ms. Rice is said to be a wonderful, classically trained pianist, but I am thinking of another presidency. Hint #1: 20th century.
