Which president was a hangman before presidency?
I remember this one! Grover Cleveland.
Kudos, Anita, that is correct:

I agree with Anita. Cleveland served as sheriff of Erie County, NY, in earlier years and believed in doing the same type of work he expected from his subordinates - including serving as an executioner.

One of the local TV stations here in D.C. is currently running a prize-winning come-on based on Cleveland's image on a $1000 bill. Early every morning, they announce a secret word. If you are the 9th caller to identify the word, you win $1000. Since I absolutely despise early mornings (any hour before 10!), I will never win that prize.

For the sake of a paycheck, I do manage to stumble around by 7:30 each morning. During my teaching years, my homeroom class began at 7:30. My morning students got cheated, I think, because I did not become the dynamic teacher until after 10 am. One class decided that I should teach night school! However, that would have cut into my party hours...

A U.S. President died in this building. Which President was it?

Fillmore?
Good try, Eva, and you are in the right century, but it was not Fillmore who died in that building.
There are fire escapes at the building. At all it reminds me of:

The two presidents who died in NYC in that century were Monroe and Arthur. Was it one of those two?
Excellent, Eva! It was James Monroe. After Monroe's term he returned to his home in Virginia (Oak Hill), but after his wife's death in 1830, he moved to New York City to live in the home of his daughter, Maria, and his son-in-law, Samuel L. Gouverneur. It was there that Monroe died of heart failure on July 4, 1831. The home passed through many hands over the years and eventually fell into a dilapidated state. A series of fires made things worse. Finally, in 1927, it was demolished.
Four Presidents have had U.S. state capitals named after them. Name the Presidents, the cities, and the states.
Lincoln, Nebraska, Jefferson City, Missouri.

You are half-way there...

You actually named the one I thought would be the hardest -- Jefferson City, MO

Hint#1 - Think north and south for the remaining two.
Jackson(ville?)?
