Jimmy Carter's wife ( I can't spell her first name correctly.)
Lucy Hayes?
"Saintly" Lucy Hayes was a good guess. And Rosalynn Carter was , well, very very good too.
But sorry neither correct.

Recall my hint that you should ask yourself how we could know that this First Lady saved a man's soul ?

Well, the man said so.
This Lady didn't so much have her head in the clouds , more like in the heavens.
I said Rogerm's suggestion was very very good. Not right, though.
Nancy Reagan?

Thanks, Rob ! Well done ( Rogerm, so close with the previous First Lady .... you missed it by THAT much as Maxwell Smart used to say).

Good work, Rob. I was beginning to sweat.

Yes, Ronald Reagan said " When I met Nancy she saved my soul "
No googling please.

The son of a United States President had this to say about Abraham Lincoln:

"I think he was a bad man, a man who forced the country into an unnecessary war and conducted it with great inhumanity."

Which U.S. President was it?
(Wild guess) Woodrow Wilson?
John Tyler?

Rob
Not Wilson, Michael. And Rob you are correct! Ex-President John Tyler favored the Confederacy during the Civil War, and he was elected to the Confederate House of Representatives. In 1932 Tyler's son, Lyon Gardiner Tyler, said of Abraham Lincoln, "I think he was a bad man, a man who forced the country into an unnecessary war and conducted it with great inhumanity."

Good job, Rob!

OK, Ok, Woodrow Wilson had no children ... and according to Google 'fun facts' "His earliest memory as a child was hearing that Abraham Lincoln had been elected president and that war was coming."
Thanks Roger. I pulled that out of the air, remembering that at least one of Tyler's grandsons was still alive, and, of course, I was familiar with Tyler's views.

By the way, Mike, Wilson had three daughters from his first marriage, but no sons.

No googling, please.

Here is another quote that refers to Abraham Lincoln. Who said this?

"Why, if the old Greeks had had this man what trilogies of plays—what epics would have been made out of him!"
Walt Whitman ?
