I love the Surratt House. Not familiar with the term "hip tube." Might you have a pic of that small tub?
Here is a photo, be patient while it loads

Now if I can only get an extra towel or a mattress.
Confused

I'm looking for a place to stay when I come for the Surratt Society Conference. Does the tavern still take guests? Because I'm sure they have a better rate than the Holiday Inn Express.

The overnight accommodations have been long gone. However, you might find a good deal at the same hotel where we hold the conference. They give us a great discount if you register early and ask for the Surratt Society rate.
AND they have a swimming pool and a sauna!
Thanks Laurie. Will book it next week. We just had a 4.1 magnitude earthquake. I did feel some shaking, realized it was an earthquake, and called channel 4 to report it. The phone lines there were busy and the line rang for a minute so I wasn't the first one to report it to Amelia Draper. This is the second earthquake I have experienced in my almost 21 years, my first being the August 2011 earthquake where I was the only person in the room to realize what was going on. So in case you are wondering, I am OK.
I checked the inflation calculator and got this:

"What cost $0.25 in 1855 would cost $6.53 in 2016.
Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2016 and 1855, they would cost you $0.25 and $0.01respectively."

Well, I tried to Google for accommodation at that price and came up with this:

Towels and mattress to BIY (bring-it-yourself), and don't forget the tent...
However, it's located in the Salzkammergut, a picturesque region of Upper Austria, which is the setting of "Im weisse Rössl" ("White Horse Inn"), one of my favorite operettas, that actually is about an the head waiter of that tavern, who is desperately in love with the owner, a resolute young woman who at first only has eyes for one of her regular guest.

The living room of Lincoln's Springfield home.
A parlor "dressed" in mourning attire...(a table, a sofa,... don't tell me it's wrong... I guess you mean WHOSE/WHERE though...?!)

Wow, I think Joe is correct!
Wow, that question lasted all of 6 minutes. Joe and Eva are both correct. It is the black-draped parlor in the Lincoln home at the time of the Springfield funeral.

Because of the record speed that you folks posted the right answer I am sending you both my only 2 free tickets to stay an entire week at Fred Smith's Wisconsin Concrete Park. The tickets are good anytime within the next 10 years.
Road trip, Eva!!
I love the prize!
This is a photo of two people sitting on a couch. Both people have been previously mentioned on the forum. Who are they?

It's kind of hard to tell Roger, you cut their heads off.

Dorothy Meserve and Carl Sandburg?

Are our mystery couple authors?
