Aren't they famous for chocolate too? I had a French tutor who was from Belgium, and she used to go into a kind of trance when she discussed chocolate from her homeland.

Jacques Brel's "Ne Me Quitte Pas" is one of my favorite songs. So many artists...Neil Diamond, Barbra Striesand, Dusty Springfield, Nina Simone...all have interpreted it beautifully.

There is a well-known brand of Belgian chocolate bars called "Côte d'Or" which are very good. The name means "Golden Coast."

Thanks Rogerm...do you know if those bars can be purchased here in the States?

The Belgians are also well-known for their gorgeous lace. I had to resist the urge to buy bolts of it when I was there forty years ago.

Unfortunately, I think we can only purchase Côte d'or products through the internet.

1/2 of your guess is correct, Roger, it is a hotel/boardinghouse. In case A. L. ever spent a night there, I don't know thereof.
