RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia
I figured he probably was from a southern state, old enough to have grown and somewhat established children by 1860. My first thought was Polk, but he never had any children. Taylor was the second choice, he had a son that served in the Confederate Army.
So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

I did search info about Benjamin Harrison and found that he served in the war, but I found no reference to him being injured. In the process, I also found two sources that said Hayes was only wounded four times -- and had four horses shot out from under him. |

RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia
Which President had a pet parrot who would mimic his owner's foul language? In the middle of the funeral eulogy to this President, Poll swore so loudly and so long that she had to be removed from the room.
This same President also turned down the offer of an elegant sarcophagus that is thought to have once held the remains of the third-century Roman ruler Alexander Servus. Adorned with carved cherubs and rosettes, this crypt had been plundered from Beirut by a friend of this President while commanding the U.S. naval fleet in the Mediterranean. It was brought to the U.S. aboard his flagship, the USS Constitution. |

A+ Blaine, and he also cursed too much around Poll, his intelligent parrot. He also declined the ornate sarcophagus because he wanted to remain known as a friend of the common man. P.S. His Hermitage home and his ownership of slaves showed that he wasn't exactly a common man... |
