King Leopold II died of that end of the 18th century, and I would think at that time the method was about to fade. I'd guess Washington.

Good try, Eva, as Washington was treated in this manner. Roughly 40% of his blood was drained!! However, he was not the last President to be treated with the bloodletting.

Very interesting about Washington losing almost 40% of his blood, Roger; I didn't realize it was that much.

I will guess Benjamin Harrison? Or maybe, Zachary Taylor? Taylor passed away in 1850, perhaps bloodletting was more popular at that time. Harrison did not become president until 1889.

I know Benjamin Harrison's grandfather, President William Henry Harrison, refused the bloodletting procedure. William Henry Harrison was the first US President to die in office.

Excellent, Paige! It was Zachary Taylor who was the last to have the procedure. With Taylor the doctors also tried blistering his skin. Taylor passed away on July 9, 1850.
