RE: Assassination Trivia
Mick and I are on the same thought path! I was thinking Grant or Mary Lincoln since both were in Pau, France. Maybe the Chateau de Pau?

RE: Assassination Trivia
Mick, I thought about Scotland. Maybe Germany. Eva, a hint please. Was the remark made before or after the assassination?

RE: Assassination Trivia
It looks like the road on the cover of a Beatles' album. I do not recall the title, but the cover showed the Beatles walking across the street. Asia Booth Clarke lived in England after the Lincoln assassination. Am I on the right track?

RE: Assassination Trivia
Abbey Road, Roger. Its a zebra crossing in London. St John's Wood (Suburb)
Eva said the picture she posted or where the deja-vu happened was a "Lincoln" building . There have been a few 'myths' associated with that photo ... probably no help with Eva's question https://www.biography.com/news/beatles-a...nniversary “The honest man, tho' e'er sae poor, Is king o' men for a' that” Robert Burns |

RE: Assassination Trivia
Brilliant, the place is in London (yeah, yeah, yeah)! The person I'm afraid is not Asia Booth.
Hint 3: Think of other confeds that in the aftermath of events (not 100% "narrowly" assassination related, more indirectly) went to London. Hint 4: It's the name of the place in the photo that likely caused the déjà-vu. |

Exactly, Roger - the first point goes to you. Now there's the "what about" left to find out.

RE: Assassination Trivia
Judah Benjamin went to London and worked as a lawyer. The main location for that occupation was (is) Lincoln Inns Fields.
Is that the deja vu ? ( I dont know about the Abbey Rd and zebra crossing connection though) “The honest man, tho' e'er sae poor, Is king o' men for a' that” Robert Burns |

RE: Assassination Trivia
Correct, it is the Lincoln's Inn. Before he could work in England, he had to undergo qualification and being called to the bar - for that he enrolled at the Lincoln's Inn. It must have felt like a weird
déjà-vu to Benjamin to go back to apprenticeship moreover in a place bearing that name of his former "rival" (which, of course, doesn't derive from Abraham Lincoln but from Henry de Lacy, 3rd Earl of Lincoln). Abbey Road was the hint that just was to lead you to London! Your prize is this beautiful song from "Abbey Road": https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KQetemT1sWc Well done, everyone! |

RE: Assassination Trivia
My very first job was as an office boy working for a printing firm in Chancery Lane which is next to Fleet Street, then home of all London-based newspapers. ... and many of my deliveries meant shortcuts around Lincoln's Inn. I didn't recognize it from the photo.
St Johns Wood apparently has a large synagogue and there is a big Jewish population in that suburb, so there's another deju vu link to Judah Benjamin. “The honest man, tho' e'er sae poor, Is king o' men for a' that” Robert Burns |

RE: Assassination Trivia
On the day of the assassination John Wilkes Booth asked a person whether the current year was 1864 or 1865?
To whom did Booth direct this question? |
