Would the entire original photo show more persons? Looks civilian and innocent. I realize the background is "wrong", but is he depicted in one of the many deathbed photos?

I do not know. This is the only photo I have of this person. I do not know if it were cropped out of a larger photo or not.

But he was an enemy to historical fact. I believe that is Mr. Finis Bates, whose story created one of the legends that has irritated me for lo these many years - The Escape and Suicide of John Wilkes Booth.
P.S. Also the grandfather of actress Kathy Bates, and I just learned recently that Kathy's great-great-grandfather was doctor to President Andrew Jackson.
