Sorry to be late reporting in, Erik -- very hectic week. I have heard 99% praise from my staff. One person felt that Booth was a little too melodramatic (old-time villain) in a few spots, but that was all - and this person is not an assassination scholar. In the same conversation, however, another one said that she has always thought that Booth would be classified by today's doctors as having borderline personality disorder. I have wondered that over the years too - especially triggered as he saw his country (as he wanted it to be) slipping away. That said, she thought Jesse did a great job of portraying Booth that way.

Another told me there were a few things that she questioned (but hasn't said what). Another said it was so good that you could have added more, like more Mary Surratt, more Gautier's meeting.

I remember earlier on this thread someone other than Jonathan mentioned being leery of Tom Hanks's role as narrator. Every one of my people thought he was great and that it helped cover parts of the story that might confuse people not well-versed in the history of the assassination.

My staff is also very particular about costuming, period settings, etc. THEY LOVED ALL OF THAT. My computer guru raved about the cinematography.

I don't think you have a thing to worry about with this production - except for how you are going to get Jesse Johnson to Surratt House to meet me!!!!!

P.S. Any chance it will be put up for an Emmy or other accolades?

I was told Monday night that Killing Lincoln will also premiere "overseas" (didn't say which countries - but I would suspect Great Britain) in March. What is "Walking Dead?!?" More Zombie stuff?!?!

I love The Walking Dead, too. For those of you who don't watch it, Norman Reedus is a main character in it and he also played Powell in The Conspirator

No, not yet. His character is a bit rough round the edges but still not zombiefied.

I'm waiting for "John Wilkes Booth - the Mummy returns". It takes place in the mid 1930's, mysterious murders of young women occur following the visits of a small carnival.

Speaking of Moon Pies, they've closed the grocery store that used to sell them in Clinton. I may have to cross the border into the Northern Neck of Virginia to try and find them. Without them, we'll have no Moon Pie and RC Cola fest after the conference banquet on Saturday night. Did I forget to tell you, Joe, that I scheduled that for your room at 10 pm?

What ARE moon pies? We don't have those in the UK either. I've had a twinkie and i wasn't impressed and I'm sorry to say it, but Hershey Chocolate tastes like doggie drops.

I think this site should have a food thread... I mean...there's just so much to learn about your grub.

Imagine two round discs, each about four inches or so in diameter - a graham cracker like cookie substance covered in a thin layer of chocolate. Put them together like an Oreo cookie with marshmallow filling on the inside. They are certainly NOT an epicurean delight, but they are mementos of by-gone days in America when people could relax with a hunk of calorie-laden goodness and a cold drink in a bottle that came straight from an old-fashion cola tub filled with ice Half the fun was freezing your hands while you selected the coldest bottle in the tub, and then peeling the wrapper off the Moon Pie and feeling yourself gain weight.

In order to get grits and moon pies, be sure to fly into a Southern airport! Boston or New York or Chicago will put you a thousand miles away from the nearest Moon Pie and grits.

As for Hershey chocolate, I guess I must like doggie drops because Hershey bars with almonds are my favorite. I sampled chocolate all over Europe when I was there years ago, and nothing compared to good old Hershey's. Belgian chocolate came close, and Swiss was okay. I guess it's all in what you grow up with,
