Eva, I was overjoyed to see that you are going to do Trivia Advent Calendar again this year! And, yes, it is December 1 in Germany as I write this.

Thank you very much for doing this again!!!

I have no clue whatsoever but will guess the lamps are maybe in Springfield, Illinois?
Thank you for your kind words, Roger, and for guessing. A good idea, but I am sorry to say these lamps are not in Springfield!
I have not been in the Wok n Roll (aka Mrs. Surratt's boardinghouse/Chinese restaurant) since its latest re-do, but I'm going to guess that these lights hang over the sushi bar there?
Kudos, Laurie - you stumped me, I thought this would even last until December 2!!!

You win a free dish from the menu:

(Alternatively a Stollen cake.)
As much as I like Shrimp Lo Mein, I'll take the Stollen.
This was supposed to come later, but for a reason that might serve as a hint I issue this peep as #2:

What is the (Lincoln-saga related) story behind this?
Did this at one time have a mirror on top in which Lincoln saw a double image of himself while lying down?
Excellent idea, Roger, but I am sorry it wasn't this piece of furniture.
Hint #1: Quite some forum members have seen this in reality.

Hint #2: Two persons are linked to this item.
I have never been to the The McLean House in Appomattox, Virginia. So I will guess this is furniture at the McClean House, and Lee and Grant, of course, were there in that house.

My next guess will be this is furniture from President Lincoln's cottage, and, of course, Mary and Abraham Lincoln were there.

(Eva, in truth, I have absolutely no clue on this)
Another outstanding idea, Roger, and locally closer than your first one, although this is not in Virginia.

Hint #3: One of the two persons made this.
Is it located in Maryland?
Yes, it is.
Could it have been made by Dr. Mudd and still located in the Mudd home?
Kudos, Roger, you nailed half of it (and are in any case a winner). It is in Dr. Mudd's home, but he didn't make it. Who did?
