I have just read Brophy's statement from the 1991 Surratt Courier and wonder how it has withstood the historical claim of Johnson that he never received Gen. Hartranft's note? Was Mrs. Douglas ever interviewed to confirm Brophy's claim that she saw Johnson twice that day?
