I responded to your previous question on prints with links just above. Let me know if you have trouble with that. David I just realized that I had this on eBay (click here) ending today at 6PM PT, 9PM ET. The starting price is $9.99 currently there are no bids, so cheap way to pick up a nice card if you are interested. Descendant of: Cpl. Samuel Richardson 70th IN Inf. Pvt. Richard M. For the most part it is done on research to try and find the item, or similar one to get the proper color. For uniforms reenactors are a great source, since the color is right and you can get an shot in normal light (not under low museum lights). For others, such as the conspirators, a worked with the Surratt House to be in touch with people that are the most knowledgeable about their clothing. I worked with Betty for example to learn what color trench coat Powell/Payne was wearing as well as the color of his Navy uniform for the ones of him in shackles. For a few (women is most common) the dress can be more of an educated guess. For example with Mary Surratt it was not clear what color her dress was. I first did the dress in green and showed it to the Surratt house. While there was no historical basis, one of the respondents said that they had always envisioned it in burgandy, so the color was updated out of preference, not fact. For ones such as Michael O'Laughlen I first did his vest in a light beige with darker stripes. When I heard back from an authority referred by the Surratt house it turned out that his clothes had been described in the trial and that he was wearing a green vest with purple stripes! I never would have done those colors without historical record of it. Likewise with Dr. Mudd, I was in contact with a descendant of his that helped with the hair coloring choice. It's all little pieces that add up to an image that looks as you would expect it. Here is O'Laughlen showing the green/purple vest (I just realized it was not in my original post due to a limit in total images per message) Descendant of: Cpl. Samuel Richardson 70th IN Inf. Pvt. Great work. Amazing. The Mudd descendent you talked with-was it one of Dr. Richard Mudd's children? Just wondering. Some of them live here in Michigan.

To be honest on that one I'm not 100% sure. I was working with one of the people for review on the conspirators and he asked if he could share it with one of the descendants. I believe it was one of Richard Mudd's children. I was copied on some correspondence and did not personally contact them. Sorry, now as I read what I wrote it did sound like I was personally in contact with them (like I was with the others). I did not mean to mislead anyone. Descendant of: Cpl. RE: Colourised Photos
No problem. I figured it was one of Dr. Richard Mudd's children. As I recall, his son picked up the "cause."

RE: Colourised Photos
I would be surprised if we didn't refer you to Bob Summers, a member of this forum. Bob is the son of a Dr. Mudd granddaughter and the most knowledgeable person I know on Dr. Sam's history.
I'm not sure that Tom Mudd of Saginaw has picked up the cause. I'll see him in two weeks at the conference and will try to remember to ask him what the status of that is. Tom is very active in historic preservation in the Saginaw area and may be willing to focus on things that are a little easier to accomplish. |

I only posted the conspirator images because those had been the samples shown earlier and Laurie said perhaps that all the conspirators could be shown. I have done five with Lincoln (including one that has not been released yet) and one each of Mary Todd and Tad. My Lincoln images can be found here Here are the images: BTW, here is the one I have not released: (03-04-2013 09:16 PM)GARY POPOLO Wrote: Weclome to the forum David.
