Judge Joseph Holt House
In the little town of Hardinsburg, Kentucky there is an attempt being made to preserve his home. This past September my wife and I attended the Community Day celebrations. Reenactors of the Lincolns, the Grants, soldiers, men, women, and girls can be seen about the grounds. Please go to http://www.jholt-houseky.org/ to get more information on this restoration project and donate if possible. If you look at the pictures from this past years community day you can see my wife and I. A presentation of a wreath at Judge Holt's grave started with a procession led by Lincoln and Grant. I can be seen holding my wife's hand. So please check it out and possibly make plans to go in 2019

RE: Judge Joseph Holt House
Thank you so much for posting this. The house looks in better condition than the last time I saw photos of it (but sure wish that someone would brace that sagging gutter!).
As some of you know, Dr. Elizabeth Leonard authored an excellent biography of Judge Holt - as well as other good biographies. She made me aware of the ongoing project to restore the Kentucky home. It was a project very near and dear to her heart. I also accused her of having a crush on the Judge, something she did not deny. |

Susan Dyer has written extensively on the house and the project. I was able to get her autograph on the two books she wrote. They have killed Papa dead |

RE: Judge Joseph Holt House
Looks like an interesting visit.
I'll make plans for 2019. Maybe we can get a group to meet up. Cool avatar. Wish I could figure a way to have Fido wag his tail. So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |
