Judge Joseph Holt House - GustD45 - 12-04-2018 03:47 PM In the little town of Hardinsburg, Kentucky there is an attempt being made to preserve his home. This past September my wife and I attended the Community Day celebrations. Reenactors of the Lincolns, the Grants, soldiers, men, women, and girls can be seen about the grounds. Please go to http://www.jholt-houseky.org/ to get more information on this restoration project and donate if possible. If you look at the pictures from this past years community day you can see my wife and I. A presentation of a wreath at Judge Holt's grave started with a procession led by Lincoln and Grant. I can be seen holding my wife's hand. So please check it out and possibly make plans to go in 2019 RE: Judge Joseph Holt House - RJNorton - 12-04-2018 04:22 PM This is very interesting - thank you for posting, Gust. RE: Judge Joseph Holt House - L Verge - 12-04-2018 08:30 PM Thank you so much for posting this. The house looks in better condition than the last time I saw photos of it (but sure wish that someone would brace that sagging gutter!). As some of you know, Dr. Elizabeth Leonard authored an excellent biography of Judge Holt - as well as other good biographies. She made me aware of the ongoing project to restore the Kentucky home. It was a project very near and dear to her heart. I also accused her of having a crush on the Judge, something she did not deny. Susan Dyer has written extensively on the house and the project. I was able to get her autograph on the two books she wrote. RE: Judge Joseph Holt House - Gene C - 12-05-2018 03:15 PM Looks like an interesting visit. I'll make plans for 2019. Maybe we can get a group to meet up. Cool avatar. Wish I could figure a way to have Fido wag his tail. RE: Judge Joseph Holt House - GustD45 - 12-05-2018 04:22 PM (12-05-2018 03:15 PM)Gene C Wrote: Looks like an interesting visit. I for one would enjoy that. If you could get Fido's tail to wag that would look cool Gene. OMG, the second one down in the right-hand column is identical to my granddog, Brody, and that is exactly how his tail is always going. Happiest wagger in town!
