For those of you interested, there is a book "Don't Shoot That Boy" by Thomas Lowery, that has been mentioned on the forum.

It doesn't go in to much detail on the individual cases Lincoln reviewed, Steve has gone into more detail than any of the cases I remember reading about in this book. I'll dig it out and see what I can find.

It was a small amount of midnight oil. There was a short list of names in Steve's post yesterday and there was a book index in "Don't Shoot That Boy".

David, a big thanks for posting the letter from the Portland Advertiser and to Steve for his amazing research. I'm looking forward to reading what became of the other men.
