RE: Assassination Trivia
Excellent, Eva! Kudos. Yes, it is William Ferguson who was a stagehand (call-boy) at Ford's Theatre and had a small part in Our American Cousin. He gave several accounts of what he saw the night of the assassination. He was the last surviving cast member of Our American Cousin. He died in 1930.
The photo of him that I think is most commonly used in books is here: https://i.pinimg.com/736x/a6/ea/87/a6ea8...incoln.jpg There are numerous photos of Ferguson here: http://civilwar.gratzpa.org/2012/04/the-...-ferguson/ |

RE: Assassination Trivia
Is that Peanut Johnny?
I want to change my answer. Change that to Coughdrop Joey. I read about him in Edward Steers book, Lincoln Legends Myth Hoaxes Where is everyone tonight? I though for sure someone else would answer that...... So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Assassination Trivia
Excellent, Gene. Indeed he is covered in Ed's book. Among my favorite characters that Ed covers is "Coughdrop Joey" Ratto. Joey mistakenly became known as the "man who held Booth's horse." No one knows what really happened to Peanut John Burroughs.
You win best wishes for a marvelous time in Springfield this weekend. |
