RE: S.T.RTL.T.
Kudos, Roger!!! That is correct!
Roger, I know you like musicals, so you win tickets for "Starlight Express". I'm afraid it's permanently onstage only in Germany: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FH0_Pjzn0Qs From his birth in the Globe Tavern in 1843 until his death in this Vermont palais Hildene in 1926, Robert witnessed and experienced new inventions breathtaking in number and meaning. Here are the most important ones (including Pullman's sleeping car): http://inventors.about.com/od/timelines/...enth_2.htm Please share as I'd love to know - what is for you (addressing all forum members) the most important invention made during Robert's lifetime, and why? |

Two important inventions during Robert Lincoln's lifetime were the telephone and the airplane.

I'll vote for the telephone -- even though it drives me crazy each day at work!
As for Starlight Express, I saw it years ago at the Kennedy Center and loved it. What fun it is and what great staging. Pure entertainment and no need to have to analyze and make sense out of what the playwright is trying to say. I wish that even the movies would bring back the glory days of musicals. |

Because I love to drive I'll say the automobile. Robert Lincoln owned a 1905 Thomas.
