S.T.RTL.T.
Upon once entitling a thread by the very long title of the book it was about I was advised is was too long, making it challenging to post a comment.
Now here goes what this very short title abbreviates: Super Trivial Robert Todd Lincoln Trivia ...and it hopefully will invite you to post lots of replies! And the question is indeed super trivial: Who is this gentleman? |

RE: S.T.RTL.T.
According to an article by Dr. Blaine Houmes, Robert and his Harvard friend, F. P. Anderson, gave Lucy Hale (and her friend, Miss Colby) a book entitled The Battle of Bunker Hill, or The Temple of Liberty; An Historic Poem in Four Cantos.
Is this person Robert's college friend, F. P. Anderson? (You are correct - I think the MyBB software writers set the maximum length of a thread title at something like 85 characters + spaces) |

RE: S.T.RTL.T.
(Well, it was actually a forum member's advice!)
Excellent guess, Roger, but it's not F. P. Anderson. |

RE: S.T.RTL.T.
RTL's law partner, Edward Isham?

RE: S.T.RTL.T.
Another brilliant guess, Joe, but it's not Edward Isham either.

RE: S.T.RTL.T.
I'm truly delighted as for all your fantastic ideas and have to admit the answer is much more trivial - I'm sorry it's not George Latham either, Roger!

RE: S.T.RTL.T.
Hey, Eva--
This doesn't jive with your hint, but to me the photo looks like Albert Edward, Prince of Wales in the Civil War days. But he also looks like Dr. Frederick Fronkensteen. --Jim Please visit my blog: http://jimsworldandwelcometoit.com/ |

RE: S.T.RTL.T.
Kudos, Jim - this is Albert Edward, Prince of Wales in ca.1860, who in September of that year toured New England and after whom Robert was nicknamed "Prince of Wales" as a pun referring to his father's election campaign title, "the Railsplitter".
Jim, here's your hopefully appropriate prize: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Vvgl_2JRIUs (The most important part of the prize starts at min. 2.00!) ((Is that a German flag there next to the Union Jack? The elderly audience was for sure not amused...)) |
