White House of the Confederacy Draped in Memory of Lincoln's Death
Went to the MOC (Museum of the Confederacy) today for lunch to sit out in the garden and noticed that the front portico of the White House was draped in mourning.

Surratt House has had a mourning wreath on the door for two days and will continue to have it through the weekend.

With Richmond occupied by Union troops at that point, was there any question that it would be draped in black...??

This is the first time they've ever draped it. More than likely to hallmark the 150th....

That is a cool thing to do! Respect!

In case of emergency, Lincoln and children first.

I agree with Angela. The MOTC is the last place I would expect to find displaying mourning for Abraham Lincoln. Very classy and gracious gesture from the folks in charge.

Agreed! President Obama declared April 16, 2015 a national day of mourning. I have a picture of the Port Royal VA post office from that day with the flag at half staff. Once I find the device to transfer my pictures of my trip over tot he computer I will post them.
