Great idea Roger! I tried to more signage along the New York State Thruway to recognize Grace Bedel and Westfield for Lincoln's beard and stop.I was told that the venture would be too costly.Go figure!I rest my case.

Hi people, my name's Peter and I'm new here, so please be patient with me.

I am not sure if there is a policy on Senator Jeff Davis here (is calling him a president blasphemous? If so, do tell), but he came to mind when the beard-without-mustache was mentioned. He sported a somewhat strange-looking bear underneath his chin and had no mustache. Thoreau is another such example that comes to mind. So even if Davis is not another president with facial hair, these two men illustrate that the sole beard was not unique to Lincoln.

Thank you, and of course you may ask. It came highly recommended by a crazy cat lady from Germany, whose exuberance about all things Lincoln works infectious. (In short: Angela told me about it, and I decided to visit.) And I am loving the friendly atmosphere, combined with the search for details and knowledge about Mr. Lincoln. I thought about that, and in some pictures (or most) Davis really has what I would call a goatee: facial hair on the chin. In the pictures I chose, Henry (I may call him Henry) and Davis (not Jeff, oh no!) have no hair ON their chin, but only underneath. Which, if one looks for images of goatees, does not pop up very often, if at all.
