Great talent-too bad.
As a teenager in high school in 1969- I was asked by a buddy if I wanted to join him and a few other friends to "go to a party in New York." It was August. Sounded like a crazy idea to me. I declined. Turned out the "party" was Woodstock. My biggest regret was not missing Joe Cocker-but Jimi Hendrix!

Hi Eva, I had never heard of Udo until you posted the youtube video. I actually liked it and downloaded it.
Living about 30 minutes from Woodstock, my wife and I go to concerts there once or twice a summer. At the original, in my opinion, the most iconic memories were of Hendricks, Ritchie Havens and Joe Cocker. RIP Maddog.

I saw Joe Cocker at the Mosque in Richmond (I bet Betty knows where it is) in 1975. It was probably the lowest point in his career. While the prior Mad Dogs & Englishman tour was a critical success, Joe was taken advantage of financially and walked away broke and betrayed. He slipped into a downward spiral of drugs and alcohol. He was noticeably drunk/stone and yet, he pulled off a good performance. Shortly after this low point he met his future wife Pam and his life turned around. He was a very shy, self-effacing man and a great talent who never forgot his fans.

As Eva can probably verify, he was wildly popular in Europe and still managed to sell out very large venues. He was a true English Gentleman. Rest In Peace Joe.

Google Mad Dog Ranch Crawford and you should find the Real Estate posting. $7.8. As some may well guess, Joe Cocker was my all time favorite recording artist. Unlike many of his "rock stars" he, by all acounts, was a very down to earth guy. No stupid antics, treated everyone well.

There are two great videos of Joe doing "Cry Me A River". One from the Mad Dogs and Englishman tour and one from a few years ago. The neat thing is he has the same keyboard player, Chris Stainton. Chris also plays with Eric Clapton.

I remember listening to it in the winter of 1967-68 as a second grader. I was on a road trip with my family, sitting in the back seat with my siblings. Good memories!
