Rick, as always, is being extremely modest concerning his generosity. Not only did Rick custom make my crutches, he also took me up to Gettysburg so that I could purchase some period clothes. If it weren't for Rick, I would be stuck wearing my Booth Escape Route t-shirt from Surratt House instead of these dashing clothes:

That is some very nice hardware you are sporting.

The hat is one of the best, made by Dirty Billy. For those who are interested, the red silk lining in the hat Dave is wearing is stamped with an appropriate historical hat maker's mark, which has an address of Pennsylvania Ave., Wash., DC. And Dave's shirt is a blue wool flannel shirt, ala JWB, made by Kara Bartels of Gettysburg.

The only problem, as I see it, is that Dave looks more like Bob Younger than Booth.

I would post a picture in full attire but the pants I had ordered were delayed in their construction and are only going to be finished tomorrow afternoon. Since I don't have time to run up to Gettysburg to get them before Saturday, Rick is letting me borrow a pair of his pants.

I do have this picture of me wearing my normal street clothes (and shoes) showing my practice with splinting and bandaging my leg and using Rick's crutch.

I, too, am hoping that I will not prove James O. Hall's theory that the torn pages from Booth's diary were not evidence of Booth's massive conspiracy, but rather of Booth's massive B.M.s in the woods.

Regardless, I'll finally answer that age old question, "Does a Booth **** in the woods?"

I would hope that Mr. Taylor will consult with real physician or wound dresser as that is not the type of binding that Dr. Mudd would have applied. The splint would be of the "sugar tong" variety and requires musch less window dressing than that observed in the picture posted. If accuracy in dressing is required (from the clothes it is important), I would respectfully suggest that Mr. Taylor look at the Surgical manual of the Confederate Medical Department, for how to properly applya splint. Properly applied they are not an impediment but actually serve to releive pain and provide support.
