John J. Toffey
This morning I thought I'd do some research on Private Thomas Price who found Lew Powell's discarded overcoat and Lt. John J. Toffey who found Powell's abandoned one-eyed mount. I was working in Ancestry.com and the results were surprising.
Mike Kauffman gives some of the details of Toffey's illustrious military career in AB. Putting a face to a name: Toffey in Uniform Toffey Toffey's Grave I'm still working on Price.... "The Past is a foreign country...they do things differently there" - L. P. Hartley |

RE: John J. Toffey
As usual, Betty digs up every tidbit on anything remotely related to Lewis. Without such dedicated researchers and historians, history would be so much more mundane. It's pretty impressive. It's also interesting that Toffey was a MOH reciptient. Betty, I love the way you keep going and going! The energizer bunny has nothin' on you.

RE: John J. Toffey
Betty runs strong on chocolate and anything with a high sugar content. She also avoids anything green except green M&Ms and green jelly beans. They refused to let her give blood when they found that it was chocolate coming out of her vein. And she's been a devoted friend for forty years!
