RE: Assassination Trivia
Well, there's 7 stars under your name ..... so I'll say $700.

And Happy Christmas to all.
And for anybody that prefers it ...... Happy Holidays!

Is king o' men for a' that” Robert Burns

Shame on me - I knew I read it not long ago. It was in the latest Surratt Courier - 150$.

RE: Assassination Trivia
Well, I wasn't going to give away the Courier answer and that was what my vague hint was about. But congrats to Eva for remembering.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A "GOOD NIGHT!'

RE: Assassination Trivia
No googling please.

The man who wrote the following is a familiar name in the Lincoln assassination saga. Who wrote it?

"I am very sorry to think that it is your intention to become an old maid. The horrible creatures! curses upon society! a perfect plague! always meddling with affairs that do not concern them! This is my opinion of old maids. I express it to you, because you have not yet arrived at that state of misery and despair. They are looked upon down our way as unnatural beings — something forsaken by God, man, and devil. So beware!"

RE: Assassination Trivia
I didn't know the answer but that awful smarmy tone just instantly conjured up the image of John Surratt in my head!

Thanks for posting the text of those letters, Susan!
