RE: A Sandburg Stumper
Do you know why Sandburg disliked Beveridge's book?
Sorry to hear about your medical episode. So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: A Sandburg Stumper
Thank you gentlemen. I definitely feel better, but just wish the doctor had a more concrete diagnosis. In 58 years on this earth this is the first time I ever passed out. I hope it doesn't happen again for another 58 years!
Gene, there is a letter in Sandburg's papers written to Beveridge that was never sent. In it he talks about something he was told that Beveridge supposedly said about him that was very critical, although Sandburg doesn't elaborate. I have a basset hound on my lap right now, or I could find the letter. In Beveridge's Wikipedia page it says that after Beveridge died his widow gave Sandburg his research material, which is absolutely untrue given how each man felt about the other. Also, Worthington C. Ford would have needed the material in order to finish Beveridge's book. Clue #1.
That Sandburg was here seems odd. Best Rob Abraham Lincoln is the only man, dead or alive, with whom I could have spent five years without one hour of boredom. --Ida M. Tarbell

RE: A Sandburg Stumper
I made a mistake in the clue numbering. This is actually the third clue.
This meeting happened in the early 1960s. Also, when I said no Googling, I meant the photo. You can search for anything else but it. Best Rob Abraham Lincoln is the only man, dead or alive, with whom I could have spent five years without one hour of boredom. --Ida M. Tarbell
