Oldest US department store chain going out of business
Lord and Taylor, the oldest US department store (founded in 1826) is going out of business:
https://www.nj.com/business/2020/08/lord...iness.html Once the liquidation sales end and the stores close for good, the oldest US department store chain will be Macy's, founded in 1858. I think Macy's will also be the oldest department store overall, but there could be an older local independent department store in the US which I'm not aware of. |

Covid killed a lot. Although it may be better argued also that reactions to Covid killed a lot.
