RE: Assassination Trivia
Dunno - please excuse my ignorant inquiry, what is that? Cheese???

Don't you have a guess on my trivia question as for an assassination related penitentiary or asylum? Here's another hint:

Hint #4: Don't think DC.

Building reminds me of France, so I will guess that it is in Montreal or Quebec. Anything to do with the St Albans Raiders impending punishment?

RE: Assassination Trivia
Excellent guess, Laurie, but, I'm sorry to say, not correct.

Hint #5: It has to do with another destination (as a double entendre).

RE: Assassination Trivia
That is cheese & my guess is the asylum in Hanover, Germany where Major Rathbone was locked up in.

Well, Eva, this is a tough one to try to figure out. But, based on all you've said in the clues, I now have a new guess. In 1865 Samuel Mudd, Michael O'Laughlen, Samuel Arnold, and Ned Spangler were originally told they would serve their sentences at the federal penitentiary in Albany, New York. But their place of imprisonment was switched to Fort Jefferson.

So I will say this is the Albany prison.

RE: Assassination Trivia
A very good guess, Thomas - I'm sorry though Roger got it - kudos, the Albany Penitentiary is indeed correct!!!

This site:
http://www.hoxsie.org/2012/12/the-albany...tiary.html
...states that "a friend wrote to Mudd's daughter that 'He is doing a great deal better than he would have done at Albany'" - exactly my thoughts!!! Better climate (IMO), rarely cold, and at least before his unsuccessful attempt to escape he and his three fellow conspirators were allowed to room freely on the island. Thus to see grass, trees, birds, fish, the sun, and the turquoise sea instead of only grey prison walls and yards. There was also a library, and perhaps they were also allowed to occasionally go swimming... I would 100% have prefered this to imprisonment in Albany!!!

Who made this comment?

"Our country seems a complete mobocracy instead of a Government of law and order."

I'll take Agitators and Rabble Rousers for $10, Roger
Who is Clement Vallandigham?

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

Hint #1:

The correct answer is a man who was not a politician by trade.
