Rich and Gene, kudos. You are both correct. This is what John Surratt said the title was during his 1870 lecture in Rockville, MD.

When Samuel Mudd, Michael O'Laughlen, Samuel Arnold, and Ned Spangler were imprisoned in the Dry Tortugas Ft. Jefferson had a library. Within 25, how many total books were in Ft. Jefferson's library at that time?

RE: Assassination Trivia
Since no one has responded yet, I'll take a guess at 99 (not counting ebooks :Smile)

Too low, Gene.

I cannot think of any hints so I'll just give...

FACT #1: When the regular army librarian was away Samuel Arnold served as the temporary librarian until the normal man in charge returned.

RE: Assassination Trivia
I recently read this on the fascinating site on Fort Jefferson Bob Summers posted here:

...and was close to giving this as a hint (and once more recommend reading it).
"In an October 18, 1867 letter to his wife, Dr. Mudd said: “I have access to a very choice library of over 500 volumes.” Records show that the small library also subscribed to newspapers such as the New York Herald, the Washington Chronicle, and the London Illustrated News."
Amazing, isn't it?

Lucinda Holloway said she marked something on the strap of the field glasses Booth had given Mary Surratt to take to John Lloyd. What did she write?

Excellent, Anita! That's it!

You win the location of the flea market where Booth's field glasses are for sale. Look for the directions to the flea market to arrive by mail within the next two weeks.
