According to Elizabeth Keckly, what was Mary's favorite color?
Purple ? (Pink if she were I...)
I am sorry, Gene and Eva, but neither of your guesses is correct.
Lavender?
I am sorry, Susan, but it was not lavender.
Mrs. Keckly said it was white, but I've seen a number of sources lately that claim it was purple.

And from the physics point of view Mrs. Keckley was wrong respectively we all should win - white isn't a color, it's the sum of all visible spectral colors (hence all our guesses are included in white...)
If it was white, I can kind of guess why. Mary Lincoln is rumored to have said she liked it when Abraham wore this.
Somehow it didn't become much of a fashion trend until the 1950's

That's quite an accomplishment Laurie, since one of the songs (Lavender Blue) is form the 17th century
