Good guesses, Gene and Anita, but it's not either one.

William McKinley?

RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia
Nope, not McKinley, Rob.
Kudos, Anita! Indeed the last President to die inside the White House was Zachary Taylor in 1850. The only other President to die there was William Henry Harrison in 1841. Anita, when you asked whether the death happened in the first or second half of the century I was not sure where to place 1850. I looked at several sources, all of which agreed that 1850 is in the second half of the century. |

The timing would begin with the first second of the first century. So, the first second would be 01 of the first day 01 (January 1, 0001). Necessarily, the first half of the century would be the end of the fiftieth year. The second half would begin on the first second of the year 51 (January 1, 0051) and end at midnight on December 31, 0100). RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia
Sorry, David , I will have to disagree with you.
I split the century half on my left hand and half on my right. Allocated 10 years to each finger /thumb ... So if each of my fingers/thumb is worth 10 years ... First finger left hand = 1800 -1809 (1 st Jan 1800 up until 31 Dec 1809) 2nd finger left hand = 1810 - 1819 (1 Jan 1810 to 31 Dec 1819) 3rd ............ = 1820 - 1829 4th finger ... = 1830 - 1839 Thumb ............ = 1840 - 1849 Right Hand First finger = 1850 -1859 (1 st Jan 1850 up until 31 Dec 1859) 2nd finger = 1860 - 1869 (1 Jan 1860 to 31 Dec 1869) 3rd ............ = 1870 - 1879 4th finger ... = 1880 - 1889 Thumb ............ = 1890 - 1899 (to 31 Dec 1899) So 1850 is in second half of the century. Plus the president died in July which makes it definitely second half. And to top it all, I was born in 1950. And I'd prefer to say that was the second half of the century. “The honest man, tho' e'er sae poor, Is king o' men for a' that” Robert Burns |

At the common division of time between B.C. and A.C., I do not understand how it can be thought of logically in any other way. What are AC and BC in history? - Quorahttps://www.quora.com › May 23, 2018 — These years are counted from the date generally assigned to birth of Jesus Christ. So, 2000 means 2000 years after birth of Christ. Thus, Christ would have been one year old at the end of the day on December 31, 0001 and one year will have passed in time. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia
Kudos, Scott. You are correct not only for the correct ex-President, but also for the right reason. Tyler was elected to the Confederate House of Representatives in November of 1861. He died in 1862. President Lincoln ignored his passing.
