RE: Aiken
I second everything Herb said. Kudos, Christine!
Rob Wick will be very jealous as this is very different from the handwriting he is trying to decipher! |

Congrats Christine! You are an incredible sleuth! I would say at this point you have little to say about whether you can close the book on Aiken or not! With these new finds you keep uncovering, it's like something or someone doesn't want you to stop.

RE: Aiken
Well, add another family who has become acquainted with their relative because of my fascination with Aiken - the family of William James Fisher - the young soldier whose letters I found last week! I've found some living relatives who knew nothing about him and they have been moved to learn his story and read his letters. I think the cemetery is particularly poignant to them - most of the children who died young would have remained unknown without those who transcribed and took pictures of the cemetery headstones. There is something about cemeteries that just tugs at my heartstrings, but I'm so grateful to be able to reunite another family to one of their long lost heros. Maybe they can take care of the cemetery, now, and preserve it. Thanks, Freddie! (Kate, I think you are right!)
