Interesting article, Roger. Thanks for sharing.

I think both books that I listed below have been discussed previously on this forum, but both are well worth reading, in my view. It also seems that the author of the article might have used them for reference.

The two books, The Baltimore Plot by Michael J. Kline and The Hour of Peril by Daniel Stashower address the Baltimore Plot and identify Kate Warne’s roll in Pinkerton’s investigation. It has been a long time since I have read either, but my recollection is that Stashower’s book is closer to being a biography of Pinkerton. Kline’s book, I think, zeros in more directly on the specific plot.

I hope my memory serves me well. As I said, it has been a long time since I read either book.
