Not to be a tease, but since I have to leave a few things undiscovered until the March conference: I have discovered what happened to the other pistol from the pair (it has, of course, a theatrical aspect). To be revealed on March 16...

The second pistol (if we are both referring to the same one) was smaller in size and had JWB's name engraved on it. It certainly was not a "match" to the murder weapon, for sure.

This pistol is on display at Ripley's Believe It or Not in NYC. Not a match as to size and caliber but it does have "J. Wilkes Booth" engraved on it.


'derringer' is a noun referring to a very small, concealable handgun. Obviously comes from the original Deringer.

'Deringer' refers only to those pistols made by Henry Deringer. It's used as an adjective - "Deringer pocket pistol"
