What will you read in 2013?

I am rereading the massive book by Vincent Bugliosi, entitled Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Of course, this has no direct relationship with Abraham Lincoln. But, many of the political and social currents of 1963 had their origins around the time of Lincoln and the Civil War: race relations, regional differences, presidential assassination, etc. However, with 1461 pages, this book is so big, that you might develop extra muscles just carrying it around.

Vincent Bugliosi is a compelling writer. His book on the Kennedy assassination was excellent, as was his book on the Manson family. Both were disturbing due to the subject matter, but he's a good writer with a non-nonsense perspective.

I have recently re-read Bugliosi's book on President Kennedy's assassination in which he pretty well debunks all of the conspiracy theories and heavily defends the findings of the Warren Commission. Apparently, a great majority of Americans still believe in some kind of conspiracy. I agree a hundred percent with Bugliosi.

So do I, Roger. I think Oswald was just a chronic loser and would not have been part of a conspiracy.

I do think that his wife, watching the TV news with Oswald Thursday night when Kennedy's trip to Dallas was discussed, may have made an unflattering comparison between the glamor and success of JFK and the lack of success LHO had achieved, and that led to those unfortunate events. Marina Oswald evidently had a sharp tongue and they were on the outs at the time of the assassination.

But that's just my theory.

Herb: I've wondered about that too. I don't have an answer-but even if the number includes things like pamphlets-that's still a lot of reading material!
