RE: Abraham Lincoln sightings
Where is the giant Lincoln statue now?
So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Abraham Lincoln sightings
Hi, Laurie - I haven't been to the Lincoln Forum since they changed hotels. I do miss seeing everyone. Hopefully, one of these years I will be able to go back.I sure do recognize many of the members of this forum. From what I have already read, there is a lot of good discussion.

RE: Abraham Lincoln sightings
Apparently there are smaller Lincoln statues that are there with the tall Lincoln statue. Please see: http://www.sillyamerica.com/blog/2008/02...ln-statue/

RE: Abraham Lincoln sightings
OMG - I'm afraid that Stanton was correct on this one....
Lincoln DOES look somewhat like a "gorilla" in this horrid statue! Worst I've ever seen.... At least the artist could have made him thinner and a little less hunchbacked so he doesn't look so much like Hugo's Quasimodo! "The Past is a foreign country...they do things differently there" - L. RE: Abraham Lincoln sightings
There were a LOT of these smaller statues on the property. I don't know what happened to them. If I remember correctly, someone locally carved them. From the highway you can't tell which finger the big Lincoln statue has in the air. That finger was shot off before the statue was moved. Jacqueline Oruwari and her husband owned it. She was a very nice lady and recently passed away. I don't know who owns the property now, but we sure do miss the excellent restaurant they had.

RE: Abraham Lincoln sightings
My guess is that it might have been drunk college kids who partied out there (and I wasn't one of them).

RE: Abraham Lincoln sightings
I am watching the movie An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. In the scene where Kerr's character is in a classroom, there is a huge bust of Lincoln against the back wall. Never noticed it before. Another Lincoln sighting!

RE: Abraham Lincoln sightings
In the great WC Fields movie, 'Man On The Flying Trapeze', Fields [as Ambrose Woolfinger] and several others are standing in a courtroom. On the wall is a picture of Lincoln. Fields sees it, and comments, "Honest Old Abe..."
Then the judge shows up and gives him 30 days for manufacturing applejack without a license. Funny stuff..... |

Uploaded with ImageShack.us Photo by Bruce Miller A Lincoln sighting! Well, sort of. This is Fred Priebe- a Lincoln portrayer of the finest caliber. He spoke at our annual Installation of Officers for our Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War meeting last night. His speech was on the subject: "Why did he wait so long?"-referring to issuing the Emancipation Proclamation. His web page is here: http://alincolnstyle.com/index.html Bill Nash |

RE: Abraham Lincoln sightings
Lincoln cars are using Abe in an ad.
It happens so fast that it is easy to miss. The ad opens with a quick shot of Lincoln walking, then quickly goes to the car speil. |
