Quote:So, when you wrote for newspapers, you were not trying to tell the truth.
Nice try David, but apples and oranges.

The main thing a person needs to focus on here is the original intent. Any piece that claims to be nonfiction must meet certain requirements, most important of which is to be based on evidence and not go farther than the evidence allows.

A work of fiction, whether it be in the form of a novel or a feature film, or a lousy play, has no such requirement. Do you honestly think Abraham Lincoln fought vampires?

Quote:You were always trying to be interesting, but not correctly informative?

Actually, I never cared one whit about being interesting. Only someone who hasn't covered a sewer board meeting would wonder about making a story interesting.

Quote:And, you actually think that President Lincoln was anything less than perfect?

Umm, David, have you actually read my posts? Not only do I think Lincoln was as far from perfect as is possible, I can argue there would be one other person who felt the same way. You might have heard of him. His name was Abraham Lincoln.

Wow!
I think I can sleep better at night now.

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

RE: “Oh, Mary!”
"No, no!" said the Queen. "Sentence first--verdict afterwards."

"Stuff and nonsense!" said Alice loudly. "The idea of having the sentence first!"

"Hold your tongue!" said the Queen, turning purple.

"I wo'n't!" said Alice.

"Off with her head!" the Queen shouted at the top of her voice. Nobody moved.

"Who cares for you?" said Alice (she had grown to her full size by this time). "You're nothing but a pack of cards!"

At this the whole pack rose up into the air, and came flying down upon her; she gave a little scream, half of fright and half of anger, and tried to beat them off, and found herself lying on the bank, with her head in the lap of her sister, who was gently brushing away some dead leaves that had fluttered down from the trees upon her face.
