Lincoln's First Pet
I've read this story before, but it's been so long ago that I don't remember where I first read it.

This from the Internet Archive. The Archives gives this stories source as McClure's, November 1922
I had to enlarge the print to read it.

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

Gene, possibly you first read the story in Emanuel Hertz' Lincoln Talks. Hertz' source is Frederick C. Iglehart's The Speaking Oak.

Great story. I remember reading somewhere too. It was nice reading it here again.
