Honest Abe - A Study in Integrity
By Alonzo Rothschild, published on 1917.
An interesting look at the character of Abraham Lincoln broken down into five chapters. It covers the time period from his life on the farm in Indiana to the time he wins the presidential election. We are all familiar with different incidences in his life where he shows honesty and integrity, and this book is full of them. This book explains the circumstances Lincoln was facing when he made choices, when doing the right thing was not the easiest path to take. The writer clearly shows integrity was a way of life for Lincoln. The way he lived, his mannerisms, the way he carried himself, what he said and how he said it, and his humbleness, all set him apart from most people. He backed up his words by his actions. He was the real deal. It's a nice book, but not a must have. About 280 pages of text. There is also 21 page biography of the author written by his son. A nice bibliography, interesting because all of the sources sited are over 100 years old. In addition , over 35 pages of source notes. Well researched and well written, it's not a book you can get the most out of if you only read a few pages at a time. You will come away with a greater respect for Lincoln, realizing that compared to many of our national political leaders, he is in a class by himself. My copy came from a library book sale. Reprints are easier to find, and you can find them on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Honest-Abe-Integr...oks&sr=1-1 So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Honest Abe - A Study in Integrity
Forgot to mention, it's available on Internet Archive.
As well as his other book, Lincoln Master of Men. These seem to be the only two books he ever wrote. https://archive.org/details/honestabestu...h/mode/2up So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |
