The Life and Times of John Wilkes Booth
I have learned that in the next six weeks, a new book entitled The Life and Times of John Wilkes Booth will be published. The author is William C. Edwards, a name that should be familiar to all who rely on The Lincoln Assassination - The Evidence, co-edited by Bill Edwards and Ed Steers. In 2008, Bill also produced a brilliant CD-ROM of the National Archives Microfilm Record Group M619, The Lincoln Assassination: The Reward Files. I thank Bill for his past contributions to making the Lincoln assassination records accessible and look forward to reading his new book.

Bill Edwards' The Life and Times of John Wilkes Booth has been published and is available at: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/107216...UTF8&psc=1

If you can wait a couple of weeks, it is likely a title that will be available through the Surratt House Museum Bookshop as well.

I just instructed our gift shop manager to get it on our shelves. Hopefully, we can come close to the Amazon price.

Thanks for the alert and link, Bill. It even ships to Germany and is in my budget range, so I couldn't resist the "new information"...

RE: The Life and Times of John Wilkes Booth
Well, I have to finish Susan's The First Lady and the Rebel tonight because Bill Edwards's book just arrived at my doorstep. BTW: Susan's book is great! I told her that the only thing that disappointed me was finding out what Emily Todd Helms's husband really looked like. He is quite the Southern gentleman, soldier, leader, and the love of her life, so I had a romantic image of what he looked like. Then I made the mistake of googling his photo. Not as handsome as I expected. However, he was killed at Chickamaugua and Emily never remarried and lived to be 93. Mr. Lincoln would say that "Love is Eternal."

Thanks, Roger. There is another photo of him without his whiskers -- the whiskers make him look better, however. Emily was a very pretty lady. And, I am sorry to seem like I am judging people on their looks... I just felt like I was thinking of Rhett and found Ashley instead.

The mustache doesn't work (according to Fido)

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

I felt the same...(but IMO no beard yet became him better. Not everyone is made for the latest fashion...)
