Some (semi) encouraging news
I was in the public library in Batavia, Illinois recently. As many of you know, Batavia was the site of Bellevue Place, the sanitarium where Mary Lincoln was committed briefly in 1875.
There were numerous stacks of books piled on large tables in the middle of the library with signs that read “Batavia High School Required Summer Reading”. I was delighted to see that among the required books was “Chasing Lincoln’s Killer”, along with one called “Mr. Lincoln’s High Tech War.” HOORAY! It seems some schools are encouraging the creation of a new generation of Lincoln scholars and aficionados. But then I looked on Batavia high school’s website and found that another required reading choice is O’Reilly’s dreck, “Killing Lincoln”. Oh, well. Fingers crossed the kids choose Swanson’s book over the other one! |

It's titled "Killing My Career" and this reminds me of a song ..... If only Bill O'Reilly could sing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgl-VRdXr7I So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

I went around behind the table to lean in to the seated O'Reilly, smiled, and pointed at him with my index finger and my fist closed. Then I thanked him and told him I thought was beautifully written (which it is; let's face it!). He smiled again, and then I hit him with "But you and your co-author sure did make a lot of mistakes !" He quickly looked back at the approaching line and called out, "Next!"(07-25-2018 09:40 PM)Gene C Wrote: Besides "Killing Lincoln" Bill O'Reilly has written I sent the picture to one of you and asked if she would do a little photoshoppe magic for me and gave her particulars. She did it. She placed Booth's derringer pistol in my pointed hand. The picture is worth a thousand words! |
