Charles Schulz and Lincoln
I recently spent a week in Santa Rosa, California and visited the Charles M. Schulz Museum there. Mr. Schulz lived in the city up to his death a few years ago. His widow still lives in Santa Rosa. Unfortunately, the recent fires destroyed the Schulz home. The museum was not harmed, however. Visiting the museum got me wondering about if Schulz admired Lincoln. Apparently, he did. Just doing a casual internet search, I found multiple Peanuts strips mentioning Abraham Lincoln. One particular conversation in one of the strips goes as follows:
“Would you like to have been Abraham Lincoln?” Patty asks Charlie Brown. “I doubt it,” he answers. “I have a hard enough time being just plain Charlie Brown.” There are many others. The Lincoln legacy is deep for sure... Bill Nash |

RE: Charles Schulz and Lincoln
Welcome back to the forum; we've missed you. I have always loved the Peanuts comic strip for the deep meanings that lie behind comedic lines.

RE: Charles Schulz and Lincoln
I remember a few years ago a special called: This is America, Charlie Brown- which had a segment featuring Lincoln.

RE: Charles Schulz and Lincoln
And the fires have revisited Santa Rosa once again. My elderly aunt has had to evacuate. I don’t know if the Schulz Museum is undamaged. Does anyone know? My aunt is safe, by the way.
I did some checking. The museum is unharmed by the fires. It is closed however due to Covid. There are online activities up and running. As Charlie Brown would say: “Good grief.” But hey, it’s not all bad! Bill Nash |
