RE: Extra Credit Questions
I am sorry, Bill and Roger, but it's not New York or West Virginia.

Hint #1: Abraham Lincoln did visit this state but not as President.

RE: Extra Credit Questions
Scenery looks more like New England to me - did he ever travel that far north? I know he visited Niagara Falls several times, but I don't count that as New England.

Massachusetts? Maybe Wisconsin?

Vermont?

Apparently Old Abe liked hanging out down by the river. Here he is again.

Hint #2: Two of the guesses so far are states that have a common border with the correct answer.

I feel certain I can answer this question - if you'll just allow me 39 more chances.

RE: Extra Credit Questions
New Hampshire, where Robt. attended school?

RE: Extra Credit Questions
Excellent, Joe! Indeed it's New Hampshire where Robert attended Phillips Academy in Exeter before going to Harvard.

The photo was taken in Peterborough. The river is the Contoocook River. Lincoln was never in Peterborough, and his time in New Hampshire was prior to his growing a beard. Thus, the figure in the photo is not Lincoln.

This was a tough one - kudos, Joe.

Source for question: Stefan Lorant's Lincoln: A Picture Story of His Life, p. 87.
