Wizard of Oz
There is a major scene in the 1939 classic Wizard of Oz movie that utilizes a HUGE prop that was originally owned by Abraham Lincoln. Which scene and what is the prop?

I've been researching and collecting Lincoln assassination-related items for 47 years now. I have up to 2 hours of trivia on the topic.

RE: Wizard of Oz
I get no credit for this as I learned it from Joe Beckert. I think it's a carriage used by Lincoln, and it's in the Emerald City scene.

Please send the prize for answering this to Joe Beckert. The one thing he doesn't need is any more free tickets to Fred Smith's Wisconsin Concrete Park.

RE: Wizard of Oz
No more tickets to Fred's or people that have buckets of trivia questions stashed away! I'm doomed. If you're a Yankee, Rick, send me a PM if you'd like to help me whup the Rebels. I'm outnumbered and in grave danger of having to sing "Dixie" at the conference. Check the "Stump the Yankee" thread if you'd like to help. Thanks!

RE: Wizard of Oz
Rick,

I'm one of those Rebels that Joe wants to stomp. Please tell me that you are of good Southern stock so that we can work together to defeat this Yankee. He and Roger are both really good in the trivia department, but if you have that much, you may give them a run for their money.

I'm terrible in that department - especially if there is a photo involved. So don't count on any support from me.

RE: Wizard of Oz
She's the worst, Rick! She goes to extreme lengths to tan my Yankee hide! She's a vicious She Rebel! She takes great pride in thrashing me here and sends me e-mails to rub it in and prove it! If you have a drop of Yankee blood in you, please partner up with me and help me win this minor version of the "wah"! This could be my Gettysburg! When the tide changed! (If this guy's a Rebel, I may be done for!)

RE: Extra Credit Questions
There are no photographs of this woman. Various contemporaries described her eye color as:

1. bluish green.
2. hazel.
3. dark.
4. blue.

Who is she?

Kudos, Joe. The various descriptions come from Dennis Hanks, Nathaniel Grigsby, David Turnham, and John Hanks.

I am scheduled to have the cataracts removed from my eyes in April. I will watch closely how the doc does it; your prize is free cataract surgery performed by me if you ever need it during your lifetime.

Ward Hill Lamon cautioned Lincoln about going to the theater with this man, whom Lamon said couldn't defend himself from an assault by "any able bodied woman in the city". Who was he?

RE: Extra Credit Questions
I sure don't think it would be Seward, but I'll guess him.
