RE: Extra Credit Questions
I got lucky! I didn't remember that incident. I'll have to reread the inaugural trip history.

Have you ever seen a US President at an event or passing by in a motorcade?

My father and I attended a speech that President Kennedy gave at a high school football stadium in Pueblo, CO in August of 1962.

I interviewed Bill Clinton (while he was still governor of Arkansas) and was in the audience of the first presidential debate in 1992 in St. Louis. While it was interesting to see something like that up close, the one thing I remember more is sitting next to Steve Roberts, who was doing commentary for NPR (and is the husband of the late Cokie Roberts). When he wasn't busy I said to him, "I really don't want to bother you, but I just wanted to let you know I love your wife." He smiled at me and said, "so do I."

Best

In 1963 I watched JFK's funeral caisson approach the Capitol as I stood on the sidewalk on Pennsylvania Avenue. I was 16. Dad drove us downtown so we could watch it pass by. Never forgot the sight.

RE: Extra Credit Questions
It's the parlor in the Edwards home where Mary and Lincoln were married?

RE: Extra Credit Questions
Excellent, Anita! Yes, it's the Edwards' parlor where the Lincolns were married on November 4, 1842. The home no longer stands.

RE: Extra Credit Questions
His entrepreneurial inspiration (shortly after a tragic death ... although there was no connection) had a major impact on the Civil War.

No, sorry, Roger.
This person's name was mentioned in a Post by Gene. But with over 5000 posts by Gene I dont think that helps much.

Regarded as a criminal by some ... the person whose image is above (not Gene).
