Steve, please correct me if I am misstating something here. You used the phrase "by those on the Montauk." To me this implies there were multiple folks on the Montauk who said "right leg." My memory is as follows: it was only one single man, Dr. John Frederick May, who mistakenly noted it was Booth's right leg that was broken, not his left.
Roger,

You are correct. Rather than look up who said it (Dr. May), which has led to other theorists claiming it wasn't JWB, I lazily just threw in the Montauk party. I believe there were also other claims and points in the pursuit of JWB where right or left was an issue, as in the examination of David E. George, the Enid mummy.

RE: Izola Martha Mills marriage certificate/note to Mr. Hall
I think the Ogarita descendants' non-match to the DNA results of the Booth family is significant. Hopefully, it (along with all the documentation placing John Wilkes Booth far away in Richmond VA during Ogarita's conception window) definitively puts this canard of Booth's children with Martha to rest. Also all the Ray Neff forgeries - ie the "Potter papers", the fake romance with Kate Scott, etc. - all revolve around that forged Booth will which also names Ogarita as Booth's daughter. Though the people that would gladly accept the Neff story and obviously forged documents may be impervious to DNA evidence.

Lisa Booth was one of the people who wanted to exhume the Booth graves in the 90's? I'm glad her family was able to get DNA results without the exhumation.

It's too bad Laura Ida Booth didn't have any descendants to test. Her line's results would've been the only one which were not predictable with reasonable certainty before the tests were even conducted. Laura really was the daughter of a John Wilkes Booth, just a different John Wilkes Booth who claimed he was born in 1848 in Massachussetts and was the (presumably illegitmate) son of Junius Brutus Booth Jr. Since this John Wilkes Booth abandoned Laura's family when she was really young, it's understandable why she thought he may have been the namesake assassin. It figures that the results I would like to see most are the ones that can't be provided!

Steve,

While I agree with everything you are saying there is still a gotcha, as I told you in an email. The Booth dna base is supported by Joanne Hulme; however, since nobody matched her, it is necessary to have a match for Joanne to either Lois Trebisacci or/and Anthony Barton "Tony" Booth. That would provide strength and support for the dna results. Joanne has a good paper trail, but sometimes there are unknown events to affect paper trails, as in my own dna. Dna doesn't lie, but sometimes results are not what we expect.

Starting down here we have the parents of Lisa Booth with John Wilkes Booth III and wife, Elizabeth. They go back to John Wilkes Booth II/Jr and John Wilkes Booth Sr, the son of Robert Booth and Sarah Brooks, NOT John Wilkes Booth, the assassin of Lincoln. Had that been the case the JWB b: Dec 1866 would have been the II not the first.

The parents of Robert Booth are John Tapley Booth and Henrietta M. (Paul) Booth, no apparent relation to Junius Brutus Booth, unless a common ancestor back in England. But recall the speculation of Lisa Booth was that John Wilkes Booth b: Dec 1866 in Shelby Co., TX was the son of JWB the assassin, and he was not. The paper trail and dna results agree on that point.

Well now, it appears that there is more to the story of John Wilkes Booth Sr than just the name. You may note that in the 1880 census his mother has remarried to his step-father, Aquilla Ballard, who has a son, Aquilla Ballard Jr. It seems John Wilkes Booth Sr killed Aquilla Ballard Sr, and then several years later he shot Aquilla Ballard Jr twice in the back of the head with a small pistol, killing him. That sounds familiar. Coincidence? The JWB curse?

Quick update: Aquilla Ballard Sr died in 1880, and John Booth was only 13 then. I haven't found the cause of death yet for Aquilla Sr., or whether John really killed his stepfather.
