RE: C-SPAN ALERT
Surratt House is not C-Span, but for those of you who may not have visited our museum, we are now featured on a virtual tour. This publicity stunt is really designed for what we call Google Goggles, where people can wear special glasses and "visit" a site from a thousand miles away. However, you can also view it on your computer:

Go to pgparks.com - click on "Things to Do;" choose "History;" scroll down to the bottom and click on "Surratt House Museum;" top left corner select "Virtual Tour." To advance from one frame to another, click the circular arrow. There is also a list of rooms in the right, upper corner if you want to do it that way instead of a steady stream.

If you have never navigated a virtual tour, you can move the mouse around to capture 360-degree views. For example, our guide is in the central hallway and gestures towards our parlor. You have to follow her arm motion to your right in order to see the parlor.

Also, because this has been created as a panorama, many of the photos are distorted as to the length, width, and depth of both the room and the furnishings therein. It detracts somewhat, but you will get used to it. Be sure to view it at least twice as you get familiar with the set-up.

RE: C-SPAN ALERT
Thanks for posting this, Laurie. I enjoyed the tour very much.

(I think they made a typo in the spelling of "dining room")

I remember many years ago (c.2008) when Rick Brown of HistoryBuff.com created a panoramic virtual tour of Surratt House.

RE: C-SPAN ALERT
I was in attendance at the 2016 Lincoln Forum Symposium. I think the talks originally given there would be worth watching.

I would also remind readers that you can go online to watch these (once they have actually aired on television). On the website, you can do a search to find a speaker or a topic and they have available (going back a decade or two) all the programs they have ever televised on American History TV. I know there are several members of this discussion group that appear in some of the programs (as a speaker, or I don't know, maybe asking a question of a speaker Rolleyes ) Below is a link to the site.
