The school teacher in me loved his stress for education, but the senior citizen in me was distressed to see that many years have passed since I stared at my TV night after night watching Roots and the turmoils of the young LaVar Burton as Kunta Kinte. I wasn't prepared to see Kunta as a senior also...

I can attest that this event was superb. A full house marveled at these five men from widely disparate eras, as they bantered in character, highly knowledgeably, over issues of race, the constitution, education, and elections for an hour and a half. Each presidential impersonator kept amazingly well in character (including TR's decison to enter the building not through the special guest entrance but among us waiting in line. He grandstanded far more than the others). George Buss' Lincoln was outstanding--close to Daniel Day Lewis', I must say. If you ever get a chance to see any of these enactors, jump at it. And, of course, Harold Holzer was the perfect host/interlocutor, maintaining a wry sense of humor throughout. (My favorite moment: when anything came up regarding modern times, TR said he keeps the others up to speed "up there on the mountain; we have a lot of time!")

I personally know Bill Parker (Thomas Jefferson) and Joe Wiegand (Teddy Roosevelt) -
great guys and fabulous historians who have mastered their craft. Bill also does work for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. I'm sure that this is a "Must See!"
